Slovak evening and no other

theatre drag show fundraiser Tickets
'The culture of the Slovak people should be Slovak, ... and no other.' The initiative Otvorena kultura! and artists respond to the statement of the Minister of Culture and the current situation in Slovakia. Karol Filo and Martin Talaga/PiNKBUS in person, with honesty, insight and wit.

'The culture of the Slovak people should be Slovak, Slovak and no other. We tolerate other national cultures, but our culture is not a mixture of other cultures,' Slovak Culture Minister Martina Šimkovičová said recently.

'The Slovak political representation is trying to close its nation to the outside world. It is abusing its power and trying to subjugate a culture that is, by principle, open to outside influences and cooperation. It is removing figures of Slovak culture from leading positions in national institutions.

The new non-partisan civic initiative Open Culture! with various supportive activities. The artists themselves also respond to the current situation in their works.
– Karol Filo's personal account of his search for a relationship with his grandfather against the backdrop of the upcoming presidential elections.
– PiNKBUS invites you to a Slovak "merrymaking" that combines queer art and folklore, as both belong to Slovak culture.

ARCHA+ is looking for ways to support Slovak artists in this situation. All proceeds from the entrance fee of this evening will be donated to support the Otvorená Kultúra! platform.

KAROL FILO & CO.: It was already good

An audio-visual investigation of a relationship with a grandfather. An art student living in Prague and a retired agronomist from Horní Jatov meet on the couch in a three-generation household to discuss the future of the world. The meeting of two experiences as an attempt to discover to what extent our surroundings shape us. A search for the possibilities of a society-wide dialogue while visiting their grandfather.

PiNKBUS: Slovak Veselica

PiNKBUS salutes the forests of the mountains, from that soul salutes them! We belong to the Slovak culture. We ARE Slovak culture. Whether MADAM likes it or not. Let's change the traditions together!

It's time for "merrymaking" because Slovak culture is only Slovak culture and no other. In a time when traditional values, rural and folklore are promoted on one side and queer or city people on the other, the nation is looking for intersection and trying to understand both camps. And there is nothing better than music!

From the Tatra Mountains to the Danube River, through Páslo dievča peacocks, Eugen Suchoň to Marika Gombitová.

Karol Filo
is a theatre director, performer and student of the Alternative Theatre programme at DAMU in Prague and the Non Linear Narrative programme at KABK in The Hague. His projects have been presented in several theatres and festivals in the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia, the Netherlands, France and Martinique.

PiNKBUS project
is a platform that provides patronage to mainly queer male and female artists and brings a new creative wave to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It follows the tradition of Prague cabarets and variety shows.
and spices it up with a dose of the rising trend - drag queens. The creators respond to the strong global growth of drag culture and bring it to the Czech and Slovak context.
Interest in this type of art and performance has grown immensely and has spread beyond the LGBT community. It opens a discussion on the most topical issues of today's society such as sexuality, nudity, freedom, physicality and the cult of beauty. The creators are convinced of the need to build a platform for the queer art scene more and more every day. Creating a safe space that spreads awareness and connects people is more important than ever
