MJ Lenderman & The Wind

music EN friendly Tickets
Summer calls for its own soundtrack – and MJ Lenderman will bring it to ARCHY+ on August 4. His songs bring to life images of sleepy small-town America. His languid slide guitar, fiddle and raw riffs redefine country and southern rock for the 21st century.

MJ Lenderman was born in Asheville, North Carolina into a musical family and began playing guitar at a young age. His great-grandfather was the famous saxophonist Charlie Ventura. As a teenager, he was inspired by Mark Linkous and Jason Molina and began posting his music on Bandcamp. After a brief stint at UNC Asheville, he joined Indigo De Souza as a drummer in 2018 and then his ex-girlfriend's band Wednesday, with whom he recorded an EP. In 2019, he released his first solo album, at the time he still had a steady job as an ice cream vendor. During the pandemonium, he made the album Ghost of Your Guitar Solo (2021), followed by Boat Songs (2022), which appeared on the best albums of the year charts.

Lyrically, Manning's latest album Fireworks straddles the line between nostalgia and lighthearted humor, musically it's again an irresistible combination of country and southern rock. The European tour for the record will kick off on August 3 at the Polish festival OFF, the day after which the show will be brought to ARCHY+.
