Matt Winning: What Can Humor Do in a Crisis?

We’ve known everything essential about the climate crisis for decades. So why aren’t the facts alone enough to make us change anything? Matt Winning is trying a different approach: humor. In Ji.hlava, he’ll present a selection from his stand-up show *Solastalgia*, in which he connects the climate crisis to the fossil fuel industry, finance, parenthood, and the absurdity of everyday life. Afterward, in an interview, he’ll discuss why humor can sometimes shed light on topics we’d otherwise prefer to avoid, where satire ends and trivialization begins, and how to maintain hope and the ability to take action in times of crisis.
