Natálie Bulvasová, Mistress of the Forest: witches as feminist icons

Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the fantasy series The Witcher, is known for his paraphrases of Slavic mythology, among other things. In a similar vein, the Polish development company CD Projekt Red has created a new world of The Witcher for its computer games. a typical character of Slavic mythology is the witch (or Baba Yaga) from a wooden hut on a chicken leg or a hut made of human bones. As an old woman of the forest herself, she can appear in a young form, understands nature, can heal and kill, and also likes to eat children. It wasn't just Baba Yaga that inspired the PC game's creators for a trio of perhaps the most terrifying creatures in the series - the witches titled Mistress of the Forest. In her lecture, Natalia Bulvasova will explore their broad sources of inspiration, their relationship to the original books, and their feminism. Can child-eating old women be considered feminist icons?

The Slejvák podcast

"Bella, where the hell have you been, Loca?!"

Friends, friends (as Chef James from Hell's Kitchen would say) come to the first Slejvák live in the newly opened cafe at ARCH+! Whether you're Tea m Edward or Team Jacob, the Twilight saga is the guilty pleasure of us all. Test your knowledge in a quiz carefully curated by the hosts and the most knowledgeable among you will face off against host Zdeňka Horváthová. Zdeňka is a presenter of Radio Wave, a local cultural figure and above all an expert in the field of vampire affairs. She also doesn't let her fanfiction get to her - she's writing a thesis about it. #unapologeticqueen #iwanttobelikezdenka. Entry is free and the podcast will be recorded, so you might hear yourself in the next episode! And if anyone knows Vojta Kotek, tell him that Vilma and Mira will hold his place in the front row. We look forward to seeing you!

Tobias Waller, Exaggerated True Crime Obsession

"NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED TODAY!!!" is the conclusion of almost every crime case. The obsession with True Crime, crime and criminals is increasingly on the rise these days. In the Czech Republic alone, there are dozens of platforms dedicated to this topic, and besides individual "amateur" creators, larger media houses are also joining in. From the position of an obsessive fan of crime and crime fiction, Tobias Waller will try to think about why this is so and will also present one case that relates to both the brutal murder and True Crime fandom. It's going to be a kind of believe it, don't believe it...
