Jordi Casanovas:
The Pack

theatre for schools dance Order
Five young men who knew what they wanted to do. One girl who didn't know what was coming. A trial that changed the view of the boundaries of consent and shook Spain. A docudrama inspired by a case that revealed how easy it is to question the truth - and how hard it is to defend it.

CW, TW: sexualized violence, r*pe

The party in Pamplona is in full swing, she is sitting in the square, tired and ready to go to bed. At that moment, a young man approaches her. What happens next is described in a completely different way by each of the participants in the case in court.

Spanish playwright Jordi Casanovas' docudrama The Pack is based on a real-life case that shook Spain. Five young men who call themselves 'the pack' meet an 18-year-old student at a wild party in Pamplona. A few days later, their party becomes a publicised case that shakes the whole society.

Sensitive Content Warning:

The production of The Pack deals with difficult and sensitive issues, including violence and rape. It presents situations that can be evocative and emotionally challenging, especially for people who have personal experience with these topics. If you feel that this content may make you uncomfortable or may trigger unwanted emotional reactions in you, we encourage you to consider your participation or contact someone who can provide support beforehand.

The show is intended for teenage and adult audiences over the age of 17, but we recommend that consideration be given to whether it is appropriate for the class. Learner participation should be voluntary.

The production of the performance is done in consultation with Consent's experts, who will participate in a moderated discussion after the performance.

The visit to the performance should be followed by the teachers' work with the learners according to a method sheet that will be sent to the teachers. The lesson is set for 45 minutes and elaborates on the basic themes of the performance. This follow-up work will allow learners to reflect on the performance and their feelings about it.

Nevertheless, we consider it important to communicate the topic sensitively with young people as part of prevention and to open up a discussion about the impact sexual violence has on individuals and society. The performance offers a unique opportunity for deeper understanding and reflection on these issues. Its message is also one of hope, strength, courage and the change we can create together. If you have any concerns or need more information, do not hesitate to contact us..
