Debata pro loutky:
How many genders are there?
A brazenly cis woman from the conservative media portal Kulturblog asked that at Kosice Pride 2019. They say sexuality is a spectrum, can the same be said of gender? Is it adequate to pigeonhole a human being through feminine or masculine appearances? Should we ask everyone how they should be addressed before a conversation? Should we break the archetypes that divide the sexes? Will we then lose ourselves completely?
Debate for Puppets is a project and now a collective that originated at DAMU and which moved in June to a new cultural space dedicated to the young adult audience, ARCHA+. It is a debate project based on the secret identities of the individual guests. They are interested in how much a person's consciousness of who they are talking to influences their communication. Whether it's based on what they say, how they behave, or even how they look. Therefore, neither the audience nor the moderator of the debate knows the identity of the guests, and this opens up a space for discussion without prejudice and with more openness.
Each guest is given an "avatar" or alter ego - a puppet who will perform in his place that evening. A puppet that is neutral, has no recognizable character, and thus allows the audience to form an opinion of the discussant based solely on his or her thinking and attitudes. For this reason, the format is called Debate for Puppets.
The debate will be moderated by Aicha Roubíčková, a student of the Department of Creative Writing and Pedagogy. The format of the Pride Debate will be similar to that of last year's festival, when the theme was: Is Pride a tradition?
The project was created at the DISK Theatre, DAMU.
